'Dream's of an Eleven Year Old Witch' the novella
'Dreams of an Eleven Year Old Witch’ tells the story of Alice Glaston, an 11 year old milkmaid from the village of Little Wenlock, Shropshire.
Set in the year of 1546 during the final years of King Henry VIII reign, we see Alice’s daily life as a child in rural Tudor England, and how she navigates her world in ways that only a child can.
Alice is a girl full of a vivid and fantastical imagination (much like children today). We see her
turbulent life through the eyes of a child, and tap into her incredible, spectacular dreams.
During this tale, we meet Henry VIII dancing on top of clouds, giant spiders, and bees with the ability to lift you off your feet (try finding another book that can say that).
But then, one day, by way of innocent passing comment, she is arrested, tried and executed
for witchcraft.
'Dreams of an Eleven Year Old Witch’ is based on a true story and is not for the faint hearted
(tissue retailers beware).
Alice Glaston: 15:46
To celebrate the life of Alice Glaston, and bring her story to the masses, we are working in conjunction with theatre companies across the UK, to tell Alice's tale in unison at 15:46 in the afternoon (Admittedly the strangest performance time you will ever attend) on the 13th April.
A full list of participating companies, venues and ticket information will be available soon.
