Hannah Oculish

The Youngest Child executed in U.S history

240 years, 8 months, and 7 days after Alice's untimely death in Much Wenlock, England, a 12 year old Native American child was taken to the gallows across the pond in Connecticut, USA.

She was hanged on suspicion of murdering 6 year old Eunice Bolles. There is limited evidence available to her guilt that would be enough for any modern court.

During her trial, members of the grand jury as well as the judge were reduced to tears, and despite evidence being non-existent, Hannah was sentenced to hang.

Alice's case, as well as that of John Dean share a lack of records, owing to the time period factors. With Hannah on the other hand, we actually have an extraordinary amount of information available.

Whilst awaiting her execution, Hannah was noted as suffering with extreme anxiety. She was recorded as spending the majority of her exercution day in tears, and spectators of the gallows state that she looked "greatly afraid". She thanked the sheriff for his kindness moments before her untimely death, looked for the help from adults around her until the end.
